Ellie was absolutely fantastic throughout my home buying journey. When my first property purchase fell through, I was understandably disappointed, but Ellie was incredibly supportive and helped me get straight back on track in finding the right property for me. After a few more weeks of searching, I found a flat and had an offer accepted. What followed was a long and often challenging 11 month process due to lease complications, but I’m delighted to say that I’ll finally be completing next week. Throughout the entire process, Ellie and the team were outstanding. They kept me informed every step of the way, provided regular updates, and were always on hand to answer any questions or concerns. As a first time buyer, having that level of communication, support, and reassurance made a huge difference and helped take a lot of the stress out of what can be a very daunting experience. Buying our first home felt like such a huge milestone, and the team at John D. Wood made the entire experience genuinely special. James was incredible from the very start. When he showed us the home, he came fully educated on the property, the neighborhood rules, and the local schools. As first-time buyers, this level of knowledge was deeply reassuring. Beyond that, he facilitated the most meaningful and memorable moment between us and the sellers, something that made the entire process feel heartwarming, human, and overwhelmingly positive. Once our offer was accepted, Ellie guided us seamlessly all the way through to completion. Even during an incredibly busy season, she made herself consistently available, answered every question, and maintained a warm, open line of communication between us and the sellers. I had a very disappointing experience with a property marketed by John D Wood & Co. Estate Agents (Wandsworth). Initially, Poppy Martin was very helpful and responsive throughout the viewing and application process, which gave us confidence in proceeding. However, after our offer was accepted, we were informed that all payments and tenancy arrangements would be handled directly by the landlord rather than the agency. This was never made clear at the outset. We had already submitted our personal and financial information to the agent, including payslips, bank statements, passports, proof of address, P60s, and our guarantor’s personal and financial details. Despite this, the landlord requested the same documents again, followed by further demands for over a year’s worth of our guarantor’s financial records, including payslips, bank statements, and P60s. We also discovered that deposits were to be paid to a business account managed by a third-party company, which had not been disclosed by the agent. When we requested evidence of their data protection compliance, we were initially provided with an expired certificate and generic documents, which further undermined our confidence. At this stage, we no longer felt comfortable sharing additional financial information. As a result, our £311 holding deposit was retained. We felt pressured into providing excessive personal data under the threat of losing our deposit. Overall, the process lacked transparency, involved repeated requests for financial and personal information, and left us feeling misled. This was a stressful and disappointing experience, and I hope future applicants are given clearer information before committing to the process.

I had a very positive experience with John D Wood in Wandsworth, particularly working with James Setright and Ellie Troisi. Although they were acting on behalf of the seller when I purchased my home, they were consistently professional, pragmatic and constructive throughout the process. James and Ellie were excellent communicators, kept things moving at the right pace, and handled any challenges calmly and efficiently. Their approach was refreshingly straightforward and solutions-focused, which made a real difference in getting the deal over the line smoothly. Buying a property can be stressful, but they helped make the transaction feel well-managed and collaborative from start to finish. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.
